You have taken a very positive step by deciding to seek therapy. Katie's approach to therapy has a goal of meeting people where they are in their lives. Your work together will be individualized, relationship-based, and strengths-based. The outcome of your treatment depends largely on your willingness to engage in this process. This does require regular attendance of sessions and working on challenges outside of sessions. There are no miracle cures. Katie cannot promise that your behavior or circumstance will change. She can promise to support you and do her very best to understand you and repeating patterns, as well as to help you clarify what it is that you want for yourself.
When getting started, a few minutes will be spent in an initial phone conversation to determine the next steps, including discussing if we are the "right fit." This ensures, as much as possible, that you get directed to the best resource for your situation. This includes scheduling, your individual needs and situation, and payment/insurance options.
After an appointment is made, Katie will send you a link to her Client Portal, where you will make an account. From there, you will complete all paperwork needed to get started. You can also cancel or reschedule appointments from the portal.
The goal is to "work herself out of a job", so Katie will work with you to determine how frequently you should come for appointments. Typically, weekly scheduling is recommended to start, then transitioning to bi-weekly, and monthly. The recommendation for type and frequency of therapy will be determined with your input and collaboration.
